I sat down to try and describe where everything comes from in the hope that
a coherent plan would arise:

You can see my strong preference for obsoleting svn is because roughly
99.99% of the other source code in use is in git.
That said, coming up with a sane scheme for moving forward faster and in
sync, supporting other platforms such as the buffalo, etc, could use some
discussion.
