I guess the issue is that bad latency typically is causing a quantitative degradation, not a big qualitative step that is immediately noticeable. People can learn/train themselves to operate in high latency/high intertia environments (steering a big loaded container ship). Sure that might not be pleasant, but I bet quite a lot of people affected by this can not put their finger on it and explicitly state what is wrong... a content provider muight take the wrong message from that inability of end users to localize the root cause?

I’d first observe that if the CDN market is growing 3%, it means the market has stopped growing (given 3% is roughly the rate of inflation). That seems like a big story, and maybe an indicator that the internet is at a pivot from stored file delivery (CDNs, video streaming) to more real-time traffic and compute.

In terms of below, I think this is CDN folks trying to understand why low latency is important to SVOD – which is not really the right question for them.

Lower latency for video demand means that I can stop/rewind/scroll with less
annoyance.   We saw this in the demos that showed up at IETF hackathons a few
years ago.

Customers are *not* demanding that, because:

a) they don't know it's about latency.
b) the end users experience the pain, not the netflix/disney+/etc. people
c) it's hard for CDN people to actually do anything about last-mile bloat.
