Hello everyone, I'm having trouble with my router that I had for quite some
time when I first switched over to Cerowrt. Every time when I reboot the
router which is a wndr3800 i just wait for all lights to be on before going
anywhere on the Internet and the problem is that my wired devices cannot
connect to the Internet at all but surprisingly only wifi enabled devices
are able to connect so I am wondering is there a remedy to this special
problem?

1) You are on the wrong list, use cerowrt-devel please.
2) it sounds like you are using a buggy development version of
cerowrt. We had a couple versions this summer that had dns issues.
Please try 3.10.17-6 for the latest decent beta code...
If you are feeling especially daring, any later version.

I’ve been playing with the CeroWrt firmware for a while, and haven’t seen this. I have a couple questions and some general guidance.
- You didn’t say which version of CeroWrt you were trying, but the 3.7.5-2 is very stable. It has a lot of the bufferbloat fixes, and worked fine as my primary router. You can get it from: http://snapon.lab.bufferbloat.net/~cero2/cerowrt/wndr/
- I always use the TFTP flashing process (http://www.bufferbloat.net/projects/cerowrt/wiki/CeroWrt_flashing_instructions) The one time I tried the sysupgrade, there was cruft left over from the previous build, and I wound up using TFTP anyway…
- It takes a long time for the firmware to get copied into the flash, and then start itself the first time. Wait 5-6 minutes.
- Make sure the router has finished the initial startup. You can do this by going to the web GUI at http://gw.home.lan (or 172 dot 30 dot 42 dot 1) and logging in (user/pw are root/Beatthebloat). If you get the Status web page, the router is up and running.
- I’m sure you’ve done this, but make sure you’re plugging into one of the four LAN “Ethernet" ports (not the yellow WAN “Internet" port).
- If the LAN Ethernet is working, you should be assigned a DHCP IP address in the 172.30.42.x range.
I’d like to hear about what you find after doing this.

Hello Richard,
Well I'm using firmware version 3.10.18-1 and I have used the TFTP method
to flash it for the first time then I've tried sysupgrade version also to
see if it will fix the reboot problem but to no avail and so I just use the
TFTP method.
Whenever I flash my router with a newer version I wait 10 minutes just to
be safe and make sure everything is correct.
Yes I followed the wiki guide on how to do everything correctly and still
the problem persists.
Is there something I have done wrong?

Hmmm… I don’t see that you’ve done anything wrong. Just to confirm the symptoms:
- You can use TFTP to 192.1681.1 to flash the router.
- If you leave the Ethernet cable attached, your laptop/desktop doesn’t receive a DHCP address after the 5-10 minute wait?
- At that same time, you can connect via Wi-Fi to the router?
If this is the case, I’m going to have to look to others on the list for suggestions. I just jumped in with my short list because I had them in mind…
Best regards,
Rich Brown

Yes I'm able to use TFTP at 192.168.1.1 address
My desktop receives an dhcp address after the 10 minutes wait
I'm also able to connect to wifi.
The thing is that after I set up everything after the first reboot
(following the guide like it says to bring up the wan) and I reboot the
router a second time that's when the problem arises.
