While searching for a paper I remember reading back in the early 90s
about self similarity in network streams I stumbled across this

I'm hoping what I was actually looking for is in the cites, but this
paper was interesting in itself, if you are a network geek. Note how
different levels of buffering and delay (Figure 6) generates a
periodic attractor...
