Introducing the Launch of OIN on WeChat
WeChat —described as China's "App for everything" and a "Super App" because of its wide range of functions —is a multi-purpose messaging, social media and mobile payment application, developed by Tencent (a member of our community). It was first released in 2011 as Weixin and rebranded to WeChat for the international market in 2012. WeChat become one of the world's largest standalone mobile apps by 2018 and today, is estimated to have over 1 billion monthly active users. The new free platform is available as a web, personal computer and mobile app. Businesses can leverage this by creating official accounts. It is available from Apple and Google Play.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld and affirmed the U.S. District Court’s motion to dismiss ChargePoint’s allegation that SemaConnect — the leading provider of electric vehicle amenities to the North American commercial and residential property markets— used and violated 4 patents to control the flow of electricity from its power grid to an EV.

American and Chinese Partnerships Are Driving Automotive Industry Growth
Since the launch of General Motors’ (GM) initial two joint ventures in China in 1997 — one with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (now SAIC-GM) and the other with the Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) —both companies have continued to grow China’s automotive industry. They have also become members of our open source, patent non-aggression community, joining other Chinese car manufacturers including Geely and Great Wall Motor.
Today, SAIC-GM operates 4 manufacturing bases, 4 powertrain facilities and 8 vehicle plants throughout China. It also sells over 20 different products — including luxury vehicles, economy and premium sedans, MPVs, SUVs, hybrid and electric vehicles — through its Cadillac, Chevrolet and Buick (the 4th top-selling passenger car in 2017) brands.
