Subject: [Bloat] Wacky request for wifi-heatmapper
Date: Mon, 2 Jun 2025 10:00:37 -0400 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <D99782D3-F59C-41AA-88B1-1D7257A91242@gmail.com> (raw)
Folks,
I am asking for a favor completely unrelated to Bufferbloat... I'm a collaborator on a WiFi Heatmap project (see https://github.com/hnykda/wifi-heatmapper). It lets you measure the wifi signal strength at various points around your house to see where it's weak.
The problem: Windows localizes the "netsh wlan show interfaces" output that displays the wifi signal strength (and other information). wifi-heatmapper has a set of localization files that map those strings back to a canonical name (like rssi, txRate, etc.)
My request: Please consider executing the "netsh wlan show interfaces" command on your non-English system and following the instructions at: https://github.com/hnykda/wifi-heatmapper/issues/26 (We already have a few other languages, but having duplicate information is always better.) You can post the info to the issue in Github or send the data directly back to me.
Many thanks.
Rich
PS And feel free to forward this to others who might have different language Windows systems, and who would be comfortable executing "netsh wlan show interfaces"
PPS Non-roman languages should work - I'll watch to see if anything catches fire :-)
