I am generally very pleased with cloudflare's services on our behalf,
but I was not aware of how small they were or how much
money they were losing. They also have a vision statement in here:

Do they? Or is it a poke at Google?
It's from this piece:

Our implementation of 1.1.1.1 makes it the fastest resolver available, and we support DNS over HTTPS (DoH) which encrypts and secures consumers’ DNS requests."

Also, I'm not sure I trust them with not selling now, and not ever selling later. IPO means new decision makers and they love to change course for higher yields no matter what.
