This mailing list is intended to explore the possibilities of a
distributed early warning system (primarily) for earthquakes, at least
at present.
The original problem statement described:
"The DEWS distributed early warning system, using GPS and
accelerometer enabled devices on the internet edge, using network
tomography to determine the size and scope of the disaster and high
speed networking to warn those beyond the initial event to get under
cover."
There has been a tremendous amount of private traffic over the last 24
hours involving the idea, which expands on the core ideas tremendously
in multiple directions. I think it would be best to open up the
discussion and make it public, so that the other smart people not
presently in the room, can join in.
And we should also break down the problems into categories, and
people, and get stuff up on the project wiki pages, and into the bug
tracker.
