The next step is asking the potential attendees to vote on which Deep Dives they might like to attend. This allows the conference organizers to get an idea of what may or may not bring in enough registrations to warrant holding a session. We will sort all the Deep Dive by the number of votes. Then the top voted sessions will be added to the conference website. This should happen the middle of November and give potential attendees a chance to review, choose, and get approvals. At that time we will ask you for the upper limit of how many students you would want to attend your Deep Dive session. On 15 DEC 2022 we will open the website to accept registrations. For all previous years, we=E2=80=99ve sold out at least 80% of seats within a f= ew hours. So we will easily know by the 16th which of the proposed Deep Dives will meet the minimum requirement for breakeven and get back with all instructors the status of your Deep Dive. We will contact you to have you register for the conference early - so we can have a locked registration for all instructors. If, for whatever reason your session does not clear the break-even point - we will have a conversation with you about the status and work out the situation with you directly. Just so everyone knows the commercial aspects of hosting Deep Dive sessions at the #WLPC conference=E2=80=A6 We need at least 15 attendees to register for your session - and will register as many as choose your class up to the limit you define. If you have more than 20 register for your deep dive, we will offer a free conference registration for an assistant to help with classroom management. We pay the boot camp instructors $2,000 USD for teaching the course, as well as cover your conference registration and hotel/food the conference. We do not cover travel, that needs to come from you $2,000 stipend. We also budget up to $300 per student for student materials, etc. - this is NOT something you need to spend - it is merely a way to cover the costs for student materials if your deep dive requires them. If you can get these items to the conference organizers EARLY will make things go much smoother during the weeks leading to the conference - (Amazon links are most appreciated) We can get you names/emails of your deep dive attendees prior to the conference so you can be in contact and help them prepare for your session. The survey for #WLPC Phoenix 2023 will go out later this week and we will include your deep dive in the options folks can choose from. We are looking to include a NEW thing at #WLPC in Phoenix 2023=E2=80=A6 a B= OOT CAMP special offering of the top Deep Dives from voting. This would entail allowing attendees three choices from the top 6 Deep Dive sessions in lieu of a normal Boot Camp. We would offer any instructor the ability to come to the conference early - and teach the Deep Dive two additional times on two of the Boot Camp days - then you could sit in one of the other Deep Dives yourself for free. As conference organizers, we don=E2=80=99t know it this will get enough registrations to warrant the Deep Dive/Boot Camp combination, but wanted to give it a try for Phoenix #WLPC - if you are interested in such a pre-conference deep dive experience, please let me know and we=E2=80=99ll keep you informed of the status as we move forward. Of course we=E2=80=99d pay you an additional $3,000 to deliver the session twice over the boot camp times and cover your three days of hotel/food during the boot camp pre-conference days. Please let me know if this extra session would be of interest to you. If your Deep Dive session is chosen for the conference - we expect a pre-conference practice session to review and go over all the deep dive content, lab exercises, and lecture PRIOR to the conference. We will work with you to schedule a day to come to your location, and go through the entire deep dive live and in person. We=E2=80=99ve found many benefits to taking this extra effort prior to the conference. One, it gives you a DEADLINE to work towards. We all procrastinate, and by having an artificially early deadline you will have your session materials ready well before the conference proper. Second, it gives you practice, teaching to a live audience, with feedback on the hands-on lab exercises and help work with timing and flow. These have added greatly to the sessions delivered during the conference proper as most of the bugs and fixes were already addressed weeks before the conference. If you have any questions or ideas, please contact me via email. We are looking forward to a great conference in Phoenix next year - glad to have you and your deep dive as part of our community!
