Aaron Swartz Day and International Hackathon
Our celebration of the life of Aaron Swartz begins TOMORROW! Aaron Swartz was a hacktivist, political organizer, and passionate advocate for free and open access to knowledge. The annual Aaron Swartz Day celebration commemorates his life and work, while also showcasing projects that he inspired. This year's event will feature two days of speakers, hackathons, and parties, hosted at the Internet Archive headquarters.
If you'd like to participate in the hackathon, the list of projects is available here. There will also be hackathons going on in Brazil, Ecuador, and Argentina, for open access supporters living in Latin America.
This year's event will feature presentations from the EFF and the Freedom of the Press Foundation, as well as Cory Doctorow, Chelsea Manning, and Brewster Kahle, among many others. The full speaker schedule is available here.
Finally, if you aren't able to join us in person, you can watch the livestream of the event online! We hope to see you soon!
