Hi Jim,

I am writing because my coworkers and I think we may= be able to help develop an ozone-based system for decontamination of PPE a= nd equipment. We are subcontractors to a DOE lab that operates the Nevada N= ational Security Site and have experience with science and engineering related to detection or radiation and effluen= ce.  We are interested in knowing whether you received input from Dr. = Fauci or others regarding sterilization of PPE. In your March 19th letter, you state that

testing is needed to verify tha= t ozone does not damage the masks, length of time required to inactivate th= e Sars-CoV-2 virus, whether there are limits on how many times a disposable mask might be sterilized, and the length of time r= equired for sterilization. Some N95 masks contain activated charcoal to rem= ove odors or volatile compounds. Activated charcoal is used in the SoClean = machines to inactivate the ozone; guidelines are needed to specify which masks types are compatible.”<= o:p>

All of these are extremely relevant requirements and= solutions to this problem were needed weeks/months ago, so the more we can= approach this as a team with those who may be testing the effectiveness of= ozone to kill COVID-19 the better.

Thank you,
Clare Kimblin PhD.
