I realize this news is coming on April 1st and I wish as much as anyone that this is an April Fools joke, but it seems that it's true, our friend Dave has left this earth for universes beyond.

The LibreQoS post I believe was the first to report the news:
https://libreqos.io/2025/04/01/in-loving-memory-of-dave/

And Doc Searls posted a lovely note on his blog which is where I heard. https://doc.searls.com/2025/04/01/remembering-dave-taht/

What a huge loss, not only to the technical community which owes him a debt, but to the universe at large, he was an irrepressible, irreplaceable, beautiful human being who I will miss terribly. Dave, I hope you're enjoying outer space, and that you found the question to the answer of 42!
