I have long longed for more realtime musical interaction over the internet,
something that requires reliable low latency to work at all. Here is a
group doing such, with an event called

http://gighacks.com/

Friends—

Please take a look at the opportunity below from Will Barkis, a friend
working on an initiative called the Orange GigaStudio.

Will and his team are running an event called GigHacks
<http://gighacks.com/>, May 1-3, to “grow the ecosystem of technologists
working to empower people with the application of blink-of-an-eye
responsive, sharing-based, always-on reliable networks.”

Prospective projects
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GxXhidr8gQsdyGgKb_Sv99Xy8ESMbO5IqmMjkXASKXI/edit?usp=sharing>
are starting to form and Will is leading *“Community calls”* every
Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at Noon PT at 703-865-3771; Participant code:
779146 from now until the event.

If you are interested in learning more, join a community call, drop Will a
note at will.barkis at orange.com or give him a ring on his mobile at
415-535-4652.

Dear Bay Area tech community—

We are organizing a first-of-its-kind *multi-city gigabit-focused hackathon*
called *GigHacks*, May 1-3 across five cities: Downtown SF, the Google
Fiber Space in KC, Chattanooga’s “GigLab” at the public library, Burlington
VT, and Charlotte NC.

Our goal is grow the ecosystem of technologists working to *empower people*
with the application of *blink-of-an-eye responsive, sharing-based,
always-on reliable networks* – what we like to call “gigabit
<http://techcrunch.com/2015/03/17/the-gigabit-age-is-upon-us/>”
applications.

You’ll have the opportunity to *team up with talented* startups & tech
companies, developers & designers, students & entrepreneurs, thinkers &
doers.* Join teams already building* gigabit apps *or start something new*.

We’ll connect with 5 gigabit communities across the country over* BBQ &
broadband*, telepresence robots & video wormholes, remote music jam
sessions & much more.

We are hoping to *shine light on what is possible*: demo for the media and
judges including the Head of Product for Google Fiber and the CIO of San
Francisco.

Finally, you’ll get to *advance apps for entertainment, education,
telemedicine, and more*. Experts & resources from *Orange*, *Mozilla*, *US
Ignite*, the *Google Fiber Space* in KC and more will help turn gigabit
ideas into reality. Come hack with us!

*PROSPECTIVE PROJECTS*

Prospective projects
