This paper is the starting point toward the control system Andew was
talking about earlier today:

Scholar suggests it has been cited 274 times, which says this is an
area of active research.

There is a later paper (2015) which I have yet to find which describes
the rest of the controller, I can't find that right now but it is
basically an extension of the Kalman filter.
