UniTraq's first cut didn't work because the CP2101 is lame - vendor never
released enough info to make TIOCMIWAIT work in the Linux driver.

NaviSy's first cut *did* work - I've seen excerpts from the test logs - 
but they did it with a patch wire and are temporarily blocked by a physical
layout problem with one of the connectors.

Solutions to both problems are expected in due course.
