Hello to all,

Before copy+pasting Jason's announcement on social media:

Many of us here would agree, I do believe, that Jason's contribution to
improving bufferbloat situation (and more, like Net Neutrality etc) not
only in Comcast but also in general, was truly instrumental.
He supported Dave over the years, and not only with Comcast's $. He also
helpful to us, at LibreQoS. Let's hope he can continue to work on it in his
next venture!

> After an amazing & fun 30-year career at Comcast, at the end of this year
> it will be time to turn the page to start writing my next chapter! 🙌
> While I suppose I could retire, it seems too soon - I still have plenty
> I'd like to do! I'm not entirely sure what the next chapter looks like -
> that's part of the fun. If you have ideas, see opportunities where I might
> be able to help, or just want to compare notes, I'd love to hear from you!
> I started at Comcast when cable modems were still being tested, as part of
> a small team figuring out whether broadband over HFC could work.
> Fortunately, it did! What followed was the creation of a
> multibillion-dollar business & a technology that helped change the world.
> It is humbling in retrospect to be a part of making broadband happen.
> I was fortunate to also be part of starting two more billion-dollar
> businesses, as well as launching countless products, operating platforms at
> high scale, and deploying new standards and technologies at scale.
> Along the way, I became deeply involved in the broader Internet ecosystem
> and broadband industry, working with organizations including the Internet
> Society, IETF, IAB, IRTF, ICANN, FCC CSRIC/TAC, NANOG, ATIS, BITAG, MAAWG,
> and many other critical organizations. It was also rewarding and
> interesting to be a tech advisor on regulatory, legal, legislative and
> associated governance and policy work over the years – starting with net
> neutrality.
> I also had the pleasure of creating and leading the Comcast Innovation
> Fund, which awarded hundreds of grants supporting important research and
> critical open-source software development that is part of powering things
> on the Internet and within the company’s network, service infrastructure

> Being recently named a Cable TV Pioneer in recognition of my contributions

> A friend suggested that careers have three phases: "learn, earn, return."
> Perhaps whatever comes next will involve a little more of that last phase –
> such as continuing to contribute to the cause-based nonprofits and industry
> organizations that have been so important to the growth, security, and
> stability of the Internet ecosystem – or even Internet Governance, public
> policy, and government-related things that may need doing in the coming
> years (especially with the rise of AI). It’s also been fun to help start up
> companies and I hope to expand upon that. I guess we’ll see.
> To everyone I've worked with over the years, both inside Comcast and
> across the industry: thank you for being such terrific colleagues and
> collaborators. I've been incredibly fortunate to have work that I genuinely
> enjoyed, partnering with so many talented people and helping build and

> I'm looking forward to taking some time in the coming weeks and months to
> figure out what comes next!

All the best,
